Riverdale is a TV series on Netflix, it is based off of Archie and it is revolved around a town called Riverdale, hence the title of the show. The plot of the story is based around discovering who killed one of the Blossom twins, Jason Blossom. Riverdale was know to be one of those ‘safe’ town. Nothing like this had ever happened in the small town so when it did, their whole world flipped upside down. Archie and his friends work tirelessly to find the person that murdered Jason. While doing so, many secrets come out and many mysteries surface in the small town. Maybe Riverdale isn’t as ‘safe’ as everyone thinks.
Now let me start this off with saying I finished season one in about 2 or 3 days, and it was just binging when I was suppose to go to sleep. Now this show is enticing, it’s mysterious and sexy. Honestly, a way of thinking about it is a soap opera for young adults. The drama is out of this world, and some of the things they say are just cringy but I think that’s what made it so good.
Really Quick Let’s Run Through The Characters
He is the main dude, he is a jock, musician, and is really into older ladies. It comes apparent that he has some self esteem issues and believes he isn’t “good enough”. (rolls eyes)
The good girl, always in baby pink and ALWAYS has her hair in a slicked back ponytail. She is in love with Archie, and they are best friends..(awkward) Her family is kind of known to be a little crazy, and if you consider clenching your fist so tight that your nails make your palms bleed, then they’re right!
She’s from New York, moved to Riverdale because her dad got sent to prison for fraud(yikes). Archie took an interest in her as soon as he saw her, and she became besties with Betty. Can you smell the drama yet? She was supposedly the Cheryl Blossom of her old school but is trying really hard to become a better person. But does a good person make out with their new BFF’S love interest?
He is the Narrator of the series mostly because he is writing a book about the murder of Jason Blossom. The outcast of the group.. Or school. He wears all black, always has a hat on and use to be best friends with Archie until… He also has something about him that reminds you of someone you always wanted to go do crazy things with but never would. He is very intense.
The infamous twin of Jason Blossom. She runs the school by intimidating everyone with her money. She is head Cheerleader and hates everyone but especially Betty because her sister Polly dated Jason. And she believes that Polly killed Jason… hmmm. OH, and she is always in red. It’s a thing.
Now to put it as nicely as possible, these characters are really messed up, and I do not say that lightly, at least once during every episode you’re going to think “Oh my god this is it. They’re going to lose it”. And when I say this I’m mostly talking about Betty. And if you’ve watched the series you know exactly what I’m talking about. This girl is actually probably psycho but there is a part of her that makes you love her and want to help her. Probably the fact that her mom is an actual mother from hell.
When I started this series it was because I was bored, just finished the last season of the Vampire Diaries and there was a hole in my heart that needed to be filled, and it was. I was not expecting to like this show as much as I did. It had all the elements I look for in a show. Drama, mystery, funny, and I can not resist a love triangle. If you like any of that WATCH THIS SHOW, you will not regret it.
The Series is great, but sometimes there become so many things happening at once that it is a bit of a challenge keeping up. This is all in good intention though, everything that happens from the very start of the first episode makes sense in the end, it all leads up to end. And I can honestly say I never really expected what happened to happen. Just make sure that when you decide to watch this that you give it all your attention, it is not a show you can just listen to because there are things that you have to be watching to see or understand.
All in all, this series is amazing, and you can all bet that I’ll be patiently or not so patiently waiting for season 2 to come out.
